BACKSPACE

The BackSpace Exhibition was a collaborative passion project created with my secondary school friends following the completion of our national examinations. Over the course of 2–3 months, we planned, booked, and produced everything from scratch. The exhibition was held from 6 to 19 December 2021 at #01-10/11 Waterloo Centre, Singapore.

It started as a simple idea to showcase the skills we had developed over the years but soon evolved into something more meaningful. As emerging artists, we wanted to honour our creative journey and express our gratitude to our lecturers who guided and supported us.

Leading us to form a collective by coming together with a shared purpose and vision. Rather than just displaying our works, we wanted the exhibition to be immersive, an experience where the audience would walk through and feel like they were part of a story.

So, we sat down as a group and created an original narrative, weaving our individual works into a larger, more cohesive storyline. The overarching theme centred on the importance of caring for our environment and not taking the things we have on Earth for granted.

Ultimately, we just wanted to create an exhibition space where we invite people to walk with us on a journey that is shaped by collaboration, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose.
