WILL I STILL BE LOVED?
Dimensions: 60cm x 40cm each
Year: 2024
This two-image series explores the concept and complexity of parental love when expressed through materialistic items.
In the first image, seated confidently in a car, dressed nicely, surrounded by expensive bags, made me feel secure and loved by my parents. This raised questions: What if we had a different lifestyle? How would they express their love without buying materialistic items? Will I still feel loved?
The second image contrasts with the first image, lying on a concrete floor half-clothed to evoke the feeling of being lost and vulnerable. It questions whether their love still exists without all the luxury items that once made me feel cherished.
By portraying these contrasting images and challenging the idea of love, I was forced to confront whether love was ever tied to wealth, highlighting my relationship between materialism, identity, and love.
